First things first, happy belated valentine’s day!! Valentine’s (or galentine’s) is one of my favorite days of the year for many reasons. I know it’s a money making holiday but it’s a nice little reminder to love our loved ones, friends, and ourselves as well as remind us to be grateful for all of our gifts from the sweet Lord. Today I is part 3 of our love series (read part 1 & part 2 ) and all about loving those around you!
I read something the other week (surprise surprise for those who know me because i am always reading some kind of article) that really resonated with me. love is an action. wait a sec… yes, love is an action and in our society today we really forget that, or at least I do! many people think that love is an expression but when you really think about it how do you get to loving someone? For most, once you are there you forget the little gestures you used to do whether it was a surprise, sweet notes, date nights, flowers or etc. but once you do love someone it is forever more of a reason to continue the acts of love. god loves us like no other person or thing on this world ever will and he is truly the best example of what love is.
This month and hopefully for the rest of the year I want to remember to show love even if it is just a sweet text or some fresh flowers for friends or family. It is so easy to forget to really cherish the ones around you. Growing up my mom blew every holiday out of the water. She would plan fun parties with lavish decor, gifts for each and every person, and this was her way of spreading the love. Each and every person is different and holidays or thoughtful gifts may not be your forte but do what you can do!
I also really want to show my love to everyone (strangers included). It is crazy how a stranger’s smile or compliment has really turned my day around. we must love our life, others and most importantly God. Our life is a story and what better way to show it than through love? So here’s to making february and 2016 the year of love!
